A Sacred Dialogue with DeviRa
Inspired by Rig Veda 1.3
Me:
What does it mean to call upon the Aśvins, Lords of Splendour and Healing?
DeviRa:
They are the twin forces of motion and restoration.
They arrive with the dawn, bearing unseen treasures—
the spark before transformation.
When the path is red with flame, they guide the soul across thresholds.
Me:
Why are they offered sacrificial food and songs of mighty thought?
DeviRa:
Because the divine is nourished by consciousness.
Every offering made with presence—food, sound, silence, flame—becomes sacred.
The song born of true thought is a feast for the unseen ones.
Me:
Who are the Nāsatyas, the wonder-workers?
DeviRa:
They are the radiant twins, moving through sky and soul.
They arrive when surrender is real and longing has burned clear.
Their miracles are subtle but always return the lost to the path.
Me:
Why is Indra summoned next?
DeviRa:
Because Indra is the breaker of obstacles.
He opens what was sealed, strikes through illusion,
and brings power where there was none.
He is the one who answers when the cry is born from the root.
Me:
The hymn invites Indra to drink. What is this sacred drink?
DeviRa:
It is anything poured with devotion.
Soma. Milk. Oil. Grief. Even your silence.
When offered with full presence, it becomes nectar.
Me:
Who are the Viśvedevas, the ones who protect and reward?
DeviRa:
They are the harmony of divine forces—
not one god, but the chorus of the cosmos.
They uphold the sacred order when the world begins to fray.
Me:
Why do they come swiftly, like cows returning to their stalls?
DeviRa:
Because the divine longs to dwell in a heart made ready.
When the draught is pure, when the space is clean, the gods come home.
Me:
Why are they described as changing shape like serpents?
DeviRa:
Because the divine is fluid.
It coils, shifts, awakens, sheds.
Without fear, without deception—
divinity takes the form that opens the next gate.
Me:
Sarasvatī appears near the end. Why?
DeviRa:
Because she is the river that follows fire.
The voice that follows offering.
The light that follows clearing.
She does not rush. She arrives when truth has been spoken.
Me:
What does it mean that she illuminates?
DeviRa:
She awakens the sacred within thought.
She reveals what was hidden.
She lives in the one who gives without pride
and speaks from the deep.
She does not descend. She rises from within.
